Dating, on video
See who’s actually here.
Ether is a dating app made of ten-second video intros: no photos, no bios, no swiping. Watch first, and go live when you’re ready.
Once a week, a whole region is on at the same time. How Nights work
How Ether works
Record ten seconds.
Say hello to camera, on a prompt if you like. Until your intro is up, nobody can find you, and you can take it down any time.
See who’s live near you.
Discover is everyone near you with an intro up, the closest, anyone who’s just gone live, and the most recently active first. Watching needs no intro.
Spark the ones you like.
If they spark you back, it’s mutual, and they land in your inbox.
Say hi on video.
Send a short video hello. When they accept it or reply, the chat opens.
The deal
No swiping. No paywalls. No bots. No engagement algorithm deciding who you see.
Ten seconds of video, not photos.
You see and hear someone before anything else. There’s no old photo to be surprised by.
Everyone’s age is checked.
Every account passes a facial age check before it can see anyone. It checks age, not identity.
Nobody can start a chat with you unless you say yes.
A chat opens only when you accept someone’s video or reply to it. Ignore it and it goes nowhere.
Free. Not a trial, not a tier.
There’s nothing to buy. The first fifty people in each region never pay, whatever we charge later. It’s in our terms.
Nights
Once a week, everyone in a region who’s counted in is on at the same time. You go live the way you always do, and for the evening the app shows everyone near you who’s in the night. The North West goes first.
How a Night worksEvery region, every number real.
Under ten, we show a band instead of a number. Counts go down in public when we remove a fake account. A region gets its night automatically when enough people put their name down.

A number that only ever goes up isn’t a number — it’s marketing.
Be one of the first fifty in your region and you’re a Founding Fifty member: a badge that’s yours for life, and Ether stays free for you whatever we charge later. It’s written into our terms.
